As the nights draw in more and more customers are keeping their light fittings on for longer.
Some customers are keeping them on all night, which is not recommended.
We are seeing damaged halogen transformers being returned to us with clear signs of overloading.
Some customers are changing the bulbs to a higher wattage, but not changing the transformer or wiring to cope with the extra load. Some are also changing to LED bulbs, but halogen transformers purchased are not LED compatible.
This is causing severe damage to the transformer as the temperature increases and the pictures below show overloading on the 12v side.
This damage is NOT a manufacturing defect and the damage is not caused by a fault with the transformer.
Overloading a halogen transformer can be a fire hazard.
If you have changed the bulbs to a higher wattage or to LED do not attempt to power up the transformer.
Units returned with the above damage will not be swapped under the guarantee as the damage is not a manufacturing defect.
